SODA ASH PRODUCERS

CEMENT PRODUCERS
Blue Capsule decarbonises clay activation processes by providing heat at 700°C. A single capsule can reduce the natural gas consumption of a 180 MW kiln plant by 80%. Complete decarbonisation is possible through electricity or hydrogen production.

H2 PRODUCERS & USERS
Reduce the electrical consumption of your SOEC electrolysers by 10% thanks to Blue Capsule’s high-temperature steam. A single reactor can supply steam to over 500 MW of SOEC electrolysers. Blue Capsule also provides heat and steam for hydrogen production via methane reforming.

BIOFUEL PRODUCERS
Blue Capsule supplies heat for gasification processes, sustainable aviation fuel production, e-methanol, and more. The temperature generated by our reactor is ideally suited for the production of synthetic gas through pyrolysis of wood or solid recovered fuel (SRF).

STEELMAKERS
Reduce your natural gas consumption in the direct reduction processes of iron ore. Deploy Blue Capsule for DRI processes that emit even less CO₂ and remain highly competitive through the production of hydrogen.

ABOUT US
Blue Capsule is a compact, small modular reactor. One capsule provides up to 150 MWth of 700°C industrial-grade heat. But each module is a polyvalent solution, also yielding high-temperature vapour (650°C) and 50 MWe of electricity if needed.
The 150 MWth capacity of one Blue Capsule module is the compromise between the typical power needs of a large chemical industry site (most would usually require between 300 to 900 MWth), and the simplicity of our design.
It's a design that brings together the best of two mature technologies in the nuclear energy space: high-temperature reactor technology (HTRs), and sodium-cooled reactor technology.
Blue Capsule is a compact solution that is co-localised underground. This solution means maximum protection against any external hazards.
With a Blue Capsule small modular reactor, core melt is, in practice, impossible because Blue Capsule features TRISO fuel (the most robust fuel in the world) in a naturally circulating sodium pool that operates at atmospheric pressure.
